This week at Books n More

We are running the following workshops this week :

1. Diction Classes ( till March 26'th) for 6-9 year olds . Every evening from 4-5 P.M. This workshop aims to improve pronunciation skills and work on training the child's voice and modulation through read out loud exercises .Classes by Ms Gurpreet Ghosh.

2. World Sparrow Day (March 20'th ) and World Wildlife Day (March 21'st ) celebrations on March 21'st . Facilitators- Ms Anuradha Vinod (Forest Dept Education Officer) and Ms Rama Menon ( Nature Friends Forever society )
The interactive session seeks to build awareness among children in teh age group of 4-16 years on diverse wildlife in India , ideas for conservation and preservation of natural habitat. There will be an interactive Mother and Child Quiz with attractive prizes to be won!

3. Kriti NGO is holding an exhibition cum sale of quilts , bed spreads and handloom textiles from 21/3/2013-23/1/2013.

4.Origami Fun - An introductory Origami workshop for 4-14 year olds from 5-6 P.M on 22/3/2013 .The children will be making an origami crown and a bird.Workshop by Ms Himani Mahadevan.

5. 3-D Ceramic Clay Mural making workshop
This 3 day workshop will be held from 22/3/2013-24/3/2013 at 6 P.M
In this workshop ,participants will learn to make 3-D Ceramic Clay Mural Wall Decor on a Wood Base . This workshop will be facilitated by Ms Anjali .

6. "Is your child eating right?" - A Nutrition workshop for parents and children covering aspects of Nutrition Requirements , optimal meal planning and encouraging healthy food choices.This workshop will be facilitated by Ms Suhasini Mudraganam ( Nutritionist ) -Parent Facilitator
Ms Ramya Narayanan( Theatre trainer )- Children Facilitator .

Activities -Hindi ,After School Activity Club and more

Hindi Tuitions are being offered at Books n More on all weekdays for ages 6+  from 5-7 P.M . Classes are handled by Mrs Reshma Rohra , a senior teacher. Fees- Rs 1000 pm

Handwriting Classes are held four days a week- Mondays- Thursdays for ages 6+ from 5-6 p.m

We've now started an After School Activity Club , that offers the foll activities:

Monday- Yoga, Shlokas and Meditation
Tuesday- Drawing
Wednesday- Storytime and Theatrical Play
Thursday- Learn Smart - Phonetics, Numeracy , Science experiments and more!
Friday- Craft Time

Timings- 5 -6 p.m . Ages -3-8 years


Activities this weekend include the following :

1. Amazing Mazes on 22/2/13 @ 6 P.M for 5-9 years - A logical thinking puzzle by Ms Anuradha Vinod
2.Oil Pastel Engraved Drawing on 22/2/13 @ 5 P.M for 4-16 years
3.Around the country in 25 stories- Stories and Folktales from Tripura. Learn Weaving Craft . For 4-10 years .

This weekend, Kriti , an NGO that works with underprivileged women will be holding an exhibition cum sale at Books n More of beautifully designed and handmade quilts , bed spreads etc .

Learn to make a colourful peacock with glitter, stones and spoons!

6 P.M-7 P.M- "Deduce"- A logical Deduction Game in Mind Gym for 5-9 year olds.

Saturday -5/1/13 and Sunday -6/1/13

4 P.M -6:00 P.M -"Good Touch , Bad Touch" - A child abuse prevention program .To educate children about abuse . For 4-8 years;9 -12 years .

Communication Skills Workshop

We are starting a fresh batch of Communication Skills Program comprising the following modules:

• Public Speaking
• Debating
• Extempore speaking skills
• Personality Development and Body Language correction .

The program aims to unfold the personality of the child and help them express themselves better and with greater confidence.

Date of Program - From 2/1/12,throughout January . All Weekdays except Thursday .

Sand Painting ,Seed Craft and more !

The following workshops will be held over this weekend at Books n More

Event: Sand Painting Workshop. An intensive 3 Day workshop to make portraits out of sand for ages 8-Adult.
Date and Time: 28/12/12-30/12/12 - 6 P.M onwards

Event: Seed Craft- Make a ship using seed collage craft . For Ages3-8 years .
Date and Time:28/12/2012-5 P.M TO 6 P.M

Event: Homonyms Game in Mind Gym -Juniors for 5-9 year olds
Date and Time:28/12/2012 -6 P.M to 7:00 P.M

 

This weekend and year end activities- Christmas Camp , Mind Gym, Craft time and more!

This weekend we have two activities lined up on Friday- 21/12/2012 :
1. MIND GYM- is being introduced for the age group of 5-9 years . Classes will be held every Friday from 6-7 P.M . Mind Gym will focus on building the following skills :

• Vocabulary development
• Math skill building
• Logical thinking skills 
• Creative thinking 

We'll be using a mix of indoor and outdoor activities in the teaching methodology.
This week the main activity of the day is a multiplication game in the garden and a fun deduction based quiz .

2. In Craft time, the children will be making a snowman . A fun story and song is also being planned keeping in mind the spirit of the season.

The Christmas CAMP !!

The Christmas camp is back this year from 24/12/2012 to 29/12/2012 . Timings- 10:30 A.M to 12:30 P.M . The schedule is as follows:

1. 24/12/2012- Christmas Pageant - a theatre session on the Christmas story .
2. 25/12/2012-Christmas Carnival- fun, games, carols, presents !
3. 26/12/2012-Be a VJ!- Anchor your own show and present in to your friends.
4. 27/12/2012- Green thumb- A gardening workshop for our green thumbed little elves. Take home a sapling and plant your own garden patch.
5. 28/12/2012-Young  Picasso- A painting workshop to unleash your creativity
6. 29/12/2012- Lil' Chef- A fireless cooking workshop- theme "Fun Foods of India"

The fee for the camp is Rs 900 for the whole duration of 6 days or Rs 200 per day.
