Dasara Camp at Books n More

Dasara Camp is starting from 7/10/2013 and going on till 19/10/2013 for 10 days. It is an art and craft camp being conducted by Ms Rajashri Ramesh and Ms Indra Linga.

The camp is open to children in the age group of 4-14 years.

The timings are from 10:30-1:00 P.M.

The children have to bring a snack to the camp.All art and craft materials will be provided.

The fee is Rs 1200 for 10 days or Rs 150 per day.

Advance registration is mandatory.

This weekend at Books n More-Silhouette Art and Dress Up storytime and theatrical play

Following activities are planned at Books n More this weekend:

1. Silhouette Art - Learn to make a reverse drawing template and create interesting silhouettes on paper using this art technique. This workshop is meant for ages 4-14 years . The workshop is being held by Ms Rajashri  on 27/9/2013 from 5-6:30 P.M

2. Theatrical Play and Dress up Storytime- Peter Pan story
Calling young pirates and fairies to dress up and come to this melee of song and dance , role play and story time with Gurpreet  Ghosh on the much loved children's classic "Peter Pan". This session is open to 4-9 year olds on 28/9/2013 between 5-6:30 P.M.

This weekend at Books n More- "African Painting" and "MATHEMAGIC "

We are having two workshops this week at Books n More :

1. African Painting - This workshop will be held on 20'th September from 5-6:30 P.M by Ms Rajshri. Learn the Tribal style of painting colourful images from nature in this African Painting workshop. Use of geometric shapes and patterns enhances presentation in this painting style. This workshop is for ages 4-14 years .The fee is Rs 150 per child( all materials inclusive)

2. Mathemagic- Join Ramya Narayanan as she takes you out to the playground to play fun games to build your math skills. Pit heads to solve math riddles and participate in a fun filled outdoor story session on fractions and more! This workshop is open for ages 5-10 years on 21/9/2013 from 5-6:30 P.M .The fee is Rs 150 per child( all materials inclusive)

There are two workshops this weekend :

1. Pop Art Landscape drawing workshop on 13/9/2013 at 5 P.M with Indra Linga.Learn about the Pop Art Movement and make your own drawing in the Pop Art Style .
2.Around the Country in 25 stories - Bihar State is in focus this week. Learn the Chhau Dance , tie Gamchas around your head and dance to folk beats . Hear Folktales from Bihar from Gurpreet Ghosh and participate in an immersive "Madhubani Art Camp" with Ranjini Chandran.
This is on Saturday 14/9/2013 from 5 P.M onwards.

Academic Sessions:

1. Reading Program/English Enrichment  -
   Customized one on one goal oriented program
   with a maximum child teacher ratio of 3:1.
   Level 1- Phonetics (Beginners-3-5 years)

1. Introduction to 42 phonemes (letter sounds of the alphabet)
2. Blending letter sounds to read single syllable words.
3. Verbal self expression in good English.
4. Picture based composition

         Level 2- Advanced Phonetics and Vocabulary ( Intermediate 6-9 years)

1. Phonetics - short and long vowel sounds, digraphs, diphthongs, blends to facilitate reading compound words and difficult words comfortably.
2. Spelling rules using phonetics for a good foundation in spelling
3. Vocabulary development and reading comprehension.
4. Introduction to grammar.

         Level 3 -English  Enrichment( Advanced 10-16 years)

1. Advanced and intensive courses in grammar.
2. Vocabulary enhancement, mind mapping, composition exercises to facilitate self expression in good English.
3. Creative Writing.
4. Advanced reading comprehension to sharpen the child's thinking skills, to draw second order conclusions and develop reasoning ability.
5. Corrective reading techniques if required.
6. Corrective spelling techniques if required.
7. Corrective grammar if required.

 The child spends2- 3 hours per week on this program. Each session lasts for 1 hour . The timing vies from child to child as these are very small group classes of usually 2-3 children only. It is a highly customised program that is designed for each child. The admission process for this program is through a written and verbal assessment .

Event Name: Monsoon Jamboree - a fun story and song session on the monsoon for 2-7 year olds. Children can come dressed in "Monsoon" theme clothes for a lighthearted fashion show.Monsoon Jamboree will be coordinated by Sujatha Ashwin
